[Live from London] Carl-Olav gave a good overview of the “power of three”: PayPal, eBay and Skype. It reinforced one of the points that came up in the innovation discussions yesterday, about P2P and connection being sustainable. He also made some key points, I thought, about device convergence.

It is somewhat delicious to speculate that the reason eBay purchased Skype was to get the installed base of download users … in which to install the next phase of Paypal payments. In terms of website payments versus downloaded client payments, the former gets more market share but the latter wins on nearly everything else.
