[Live from London] Paul Chapman, the Advanced Payments Manager for Tesco (the UK’s largest retailer), gave an insight into what retailers want from contactless payments. He pointed out that they are looking at a lot of new technologies at the moment: contactless payments, contactless clubcards, contactless staff cards, biometric payments, mobile payments and Oyster. He also pointed out that of their £37 billion in UK sales, £20 billion is already cards and £11 billion is cash and an opportunity for growth for e-payments.

  1. I have no personal love for Tesco but I was deeply impressed by the research already done by Tesco into contactless payments. Makes me feel quite optimistic for the future.

  2. Would love to hear more about this session…any chance of posting the slides/podcast????

  3. The slides from all of the sessions will be up on the web site on Monday. There will be a podcast, but it will sadly only be me talking.
